Who are Al Fikr Academy classes for?
The program is designed for adult and professional non-Arabic speakers, from complete beginners to learners building upper-intermediate proficiency.
Do I need any Arabic experience?
No. The pathway starts at Pre-A1 for complete beginners. If you have studied before, the online level check or an official in-centre assessment can help identify the right starting point.
Can I learn online?
Yes. Al Fikr offers live online learning alongside in-person options in Ottawa. Zoom is the proposed platform for online cohorts, and availability can vary by level and cohort.
What kind of Arabic will I learn?
The core pathway teaches Modern Standard Arabic, building a foundation for reading, writing, listening, and speaking across Arabic-speaking contexts.
How is my level chosen?
Use the 10-minute online self-check for an approximate result, or book the official $65 in-centre assessment for a complete review of reading, writing, listening, speaking, vocabulary, and grammar.
How much do the 160 to 180-hour courses cost?
The 24-week course plan is $125 CAD every two weeks. Classes run three times per week for 2.5 hours per session, which is approximately 30 guided hours per month.
What happens between live lessons?
Learners reinforce classwork through digital practice, quizzes, homework, and course resources, with feedback connecting that work to the next lesson.
How long are the courses?
The published Pre-A1 foundations course contains 60 guided hours. The 160 to 180-hour A1, A2, and B2 programs run for 24 weeks, or approximately six months, with three 2.5-hour sessions each week. That is approximately 30 guided hours per month, billed at $125 CAD every two weeks.
Are classes only for people in Ottawa?
No. Ottawa learners can ask about in-person availability, while live online cohorts make it possible to join from elsewhere. Zoom access details are confirmed privately when an online cohort is available.
